MyPlanBuddy Accessibility
Version 1.0 · Last updated: September 24, 2026
Summary
- MyPlanBuddy was made to be used by everyone, with the accessibility features built into iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
- On iPhone and iPad, the main tasks work with VoiceOver, Voice Control, large text and dark mode, without relying on color, with sufficient contrast and with reduced motion.
- On Apple Watch, the main tasks work with VoiceOver, in the watch's dark look and with sufficient contrast.
- If something doesn't work for you, write to hello@myplanbuddy.app. We read every message and reply.
1. What the main tasks are
When we say a feature is supported, it means you can do the following from start to finish with it turned on:
- set up the app for the first time;
- do the day's energy check-in;
- create, edit, complete, push back and delete tasks;
- see what there is to do now and start a focus session;
- create and edit routines and their time windows;
- check your rhythm and history;
- subscribe to, restore or cancel Buddy+.
2. iPhone and iPad
VoiceOver. Buttons, task cards and charts have text descriptions. Budd, the mascot, is decorative and VoiceOver skips it. Completing and pushing back, which are swipe gestures on the card when you use touch, are also available as VoiceOver actions.
Voice Control. Buttons have short names you can say, and icons without text have a name for voice.
Larger Text. The app follows the text size chosen in Settings, up to the largest accessibility sizes. With large text, the screen rearranges items instead of cutting off text. In the task list filters, which stay at a fixed size to fit on the screen, touching and holding shows the name in a large size.
Dark Interface. The app follows the system's light or dark mode, including in widgets.
Differentiate Without Color Alone. Color is never the only way information is shown: each routine has a name and an icon, each mood has Budd with its expression and its name, and charts use shapes and labels. With "Differentiate Without Color" turned on, the energy line on the Rhythm screen becomes dashed.
Sufficient Contrast. Text and icons were checked in light and dark. With "Increase Contrast" turned on, borders and shadows become more defined.
Reduced Motion. With "Reduce Motion" turned on, entrance animations, transitions and Budd's movements become gentle fades or stop.
Siri and Shortcuts. You can ask Siri what there is to do without opening the app and ask it to start a focus session, which also helps people who use their device by voice.
3. Apple Watch
VoiceOver. The list of what there is to do, the focus session and the complete buttons have text descriptions.
Dark Interface. The watch app uses the watchOS dark look.
Sufficient Contrast. Text and icons on the watch, in complications and in widgets were checked against the dark background.
We have not yet declared larger text, reduced motion and "without relying on color" on the watch, because we haven't checked all of its screens with those settings yet. This is in our plans.
4. Features that don't apply
The app has no video or recorded audio, so captions and audio descriptions don't apply.
5. Known limitations
- The chart on the Rhythm screen shows trends. VoiceOver reads a summary, and you can explore the data points with Audio Graphs.
- On Apple Watch, larger text, reduced motion and "without relying on color" have not yet been checked on every screen.
